On March 18, 2022, the Taihe Spring Art Exhibition arrived as scheduled! Due to pandemic‑control requirements, this opening ceremony was a special one: rather than gathering artists and friends in person, we opted for an online viewing experience. A select group of participating artists and guests attended on site, marking the first “virtual opening” held during the pandemic. 。

This art exhibition is hosted by Taihe Law Firm and organized by Nanjing Zhengyatang, with co-sponsorship from Art Hundred Masters Magazine, Danqing World Magazine, Fine Arts Daily, China Jiangsu Net, Yihua.com, Toutiao, the Baidu App, Douyin, Kuaishou, and other partners.

Guo Jie, known by the art name “Yunnan Gezhu,” is a native of Nanjing. He currently serves as Vice President of the China Wenmo Calligraphy and Painting Academy, a professor at the China Correspondence University of Calligraphy and Painting, and Vice President of the Nanjing Guoyang Calligraphy and Painting Academy. He is also a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Artists Association, the Chinese National Painters Association, and the Research Institute of Chinese Fine Arts, as well as the Honorary Dean of the Jinling Branch of the World Federation of Overseas Chinese Artists in Jiangsu.

He began studying painting in childhood, dedicating himself to diligent learning. Over several decades, he pursued his art without ceasing, traversing three interwoven yet progressively layered paths of exploration: “learning from others, learning from objects, and learning from the heart.”

He studied successively under Xu Gongze, Zhu Yuhan (Molin), Dong Bo, and others, receiving rigorous training in traditional painting techniques and mastering the subtle artistry of brushwork, ink, and compositional structure. Later, he delved into the works of masters from the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, particularly immersing himself in the creations of Shitao, Shixi, Bada Shanren, and modern luminaries such as Huang BinHong and Fu Baoshi—carefully emulating their styles and conducting meticulous research, thereby uncovering the profound aesthetic principles underlying independent brush and ink expression. He also traveled extensively to renowned mountains and rivers, seeking inspiration in nature itself, taking the ancients as his teachers and the forces of creation as his guide, synthesizing these influences to forge a distinctive personal style that combines disciplined rigor with lively spontaneity, and conveys both robust substance and an inner sense of composure and gravitas. This approach underscores the artist’s pursuit of lofty ideals and a refined taste for life. Guo Jie’s landscape paintings have been featured in numerous major exhibitions across China, earning him several awards; moreover, his work “Autumn Colors along the Li River” sold at the 2012 Masters’ Calligraphy and Painting Auction hosted by Yihai Yaqu International Auction Co., Ltd. for ten thousand yuan. His pieces are frequently published in leading newspapers and magazines, and are widely collected by museums, libraries, and private collectors both at home and abroad.
