Taihe Autumn 2019 Art Exhibition (Preview)

Calligraphy and painting boast a profound cultural heritage, embodying the Chinese aesthetic sensibility and enduring through millennia. Through skillful composition, the harmonious blending of ink tones, and the vivid re-creation of life and nature, artists convey beauty and emotion.

Taihe Law Firm’s autumn art exhibition is set to open soon. The show will be held simultaneously in Nanjing and Tengchong, featuring dozens of landscape and bird-and-flower paintings by the two artists, Gu Xuezhong and Zhang Jianguo.

In the ancient snow , a member of the Jiangsu Provincial Artists Association, a painter at the Chinese Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, vice president of the Jinling Eight Eccentrics Academy of Calligraphy and Painting, and a senior researcher at the Jiangsu Artists Academy of Calligraphy and Painting.

In the snow, he takes particular delight in landscapes, flowers, and birds; his works strive for an evocative artistic conception, with daring and precarious compositions, refined brushwork and ink, bold coloring, and profound symbolic meaning.

In the depths of winter snow, he repeatedly undertook long journeys to sketch from life, exhausting his studies of myriad mountains to refine his preliminary drafts. Drawing inspiration from nature itself, his brushwork brims with vigor, and his compositions flow like a wellspring, their grandeur both profound and majestic.
 

Zhang Jianguo Vice President of the Jiangsu Branch of the World Federation of Overseas Chinese and Ethnic Chinese Artists, Director of the Jinling Institute of the World Federation of Overseas Chinese Artists, and Director of the Honghuizhai Art Museum. His works have repeatedly won major awards in national calligraphy and painting competitions.

Zhang Jianguo’s works are crafted with a natural, effortless approach, striving for a rational synthesis of tradition and modernity, as well as of nature and art.
