When India is mentioned, or when people who have visited the country—indeed, even some Indian citizens themselves—often assume that its rule-of-law system is underdeveloped and that money can buy just about anything. But this is far from the truth:
From 2018 to 2019, I undertook an exchange program and worked at a law office in India. Like many domestic clients, I typically entered India on a business visa, and my salary was not paid in India. However, since I joined a locally‑based Indian law office, the hiring process was quite stringent. Accordingly, I submitted the required documentation in China and applied for an Indian work visa.
The initial validity of an Indian work visa is typically 180 days. With a work visa, entering India is generally straightforward; however, ensuring compliance and navigating the associated administrative procedures has presented me with considerable challenges.

I entered the legal profession in early 2012, and in 2019 I was fortunate to join the JC Master family, which provided me with opportunities for continued learning and growth. This year, I was further privileged to become a member of JC Master’s partnership. Under the guidance of Director Ma, I gained a deeper understanding of the expectations placed on JC Master partners—particularly the concepts of “artisan spirit” and “trust,” which left a lasting impression on me. Reflecting on my journey, I realize that my goal has always been to approach my work with an artisan’s mindset, striving to be a lawyer whom clients can trust.

Many people have asked me: As a female lawyer—especially one who has long handled family and matrimonial matters, often representing the more vulnerable female party—has this had any impact on your mindset or your life? My answer is, of course, yes. Since I officially became a lawyer, my life and my outlook have inevitably undergone significant changes.
