This is precisely the intention behind launching our “JC Master: Lawyers’ Stories” column. We hope to show you the most authentic side of the JC Master lawyers—beyond the courtroom. And through their stories, we aim to help more people understand that at JC Master, law is not merely a profession; it is a passion worth entrusting to.

01 | About “The First Time”
 

Almost every lawyer at JC Master cherishes their own “first time.”

The first time I independently hosted a client, my composure stemmed from the confidence gained through countless rehearsals.

For the first time speaking in court, he spoke at a measured pace, and every argument stood up to scrutiny.

For the first time, I stayed up all night revising the prospectus; outside my window, the bustling city of Nanjing had grown quiet, while dozens of pages of annotations lay before me.

The first time I received a favorable judgment, I felt no excitement as I had imagined; instead, I was filled with the steady sense of having lived up to that trust.

Behind the glamour of the legal profession lies, more often than not, a steadfast dedication that remains largely unseen.

There is another kind of commitment—one that has nothing to do with generating revenue but is deeply tied to responsibility. Lawyers from JC Master Public Welfare regularly visit streets, communities, and schools, explaining the Civil Code to residents, addressing elderly individuals’ questions about wills and inheritance, and delivering legal education lectures to young people. Time and again, they go out, time and again, they provide answers, their steps never faltering.
