His works have been featured in the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th National Art Exhibitions, as well as the 2nd and 3rd China Oil Painting Exhibitions, and have been shown and presented in exhibitions and lectures across the United States, France, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and other countries and regions. His piece “1911—A History You Can See” was awarded the Second Jiangsu Wenhua Prize, while “Summer 1998: Rainbow” received the Gold Award at the inaugural Jiangsu Art Festival. In 2018, he was included in the Jiangsu Province Outstanding Artists Series Exhibition, titled “Xing Jianjian.”

Professor Xing Jianjian is a renowned, accomplished oil painter of our time. His works typically exhibit an aesthetic inclination toward graceful lyricism—truly, one’s appearance reflects the state of one’s heart.

Portraiture is an important mode of expression in the visual arts. The primary task of a portrait painter is not only to achieve the greatest possible likeness between the subject and the sitter, but, more importantly, to convey the subject’s character and individual traits, thereby establishing through the language of painting a quintessential image of the person depicted.

The portraits in Xing Jianjian’s work are at once elegant and timeless, enigmatic and captivating, shy and demure, or serene and deeply sincere… Each time one gazes upon them, it feels as though one is confronting a different life.
