Recently, Attorney Wang Qian of JC Master Law Office served as a pro bono lecturer for the “I Help Women and Children Thrive: Classroom on Protecting Women’s and Children’s Rights and Ensuring Their Safety” project. She visited Qiancheng Village in Getang Subdistrict, delivering a public‑interest legal education talk titled “Say No to School Bullying” to children and their parents. The event was jointly launched by the Jiangsu Provincial Women’s Federation and the Jiangsu Provincial Women and Children’s Welfare Foundation, with the aim of enhancing children’s self‑protection skills and fostering a healthier growing environment through the dissemination of legal knowledge. It drew active participation from numerous families.
During the lecture, Attorney Wang Qian provided a systematic and in-depth explanation across four key areas: “What is school bullying,” “The specific manifestations of school bullying,” “The harms and costs of school bullying,” and “Learning to say ‘no’ to school bullying.” Drawing on vivid case examples and clear, accessible language, she integrated legal knowledge into her presentation, helping students develop a precise understanding of the definition of school bullying—encompassing not only physical confrontations but also verbal insults, social exclusion, cyberbullying, and other more subtle forms.
Attorney Wang Qian focused on analyzing the physical and psychological trauma that school bullying inflicts on victims, as well as its long-term adverse effects on the perpetrators’ personal development, underscoring the gravity of this issue. She actively encouraged the students present to reflect and develop effective coping strategies: when confronted with bullying, they should speak up bravely and promptly seek assistance from parents, teachers, or relevant authorities; they must neither become overbearing “perpetrators” nor remain silent “victims” or indifferent “bystanders.”
During the interactive session, the children eagerly posed questions, which Attorney Wang Qian answered one by one with patience and thoroughness. Parents in attendance also remarked that the lecture was highly practical, not only strengthening their children’s ability to recognize and prevent bullying but also raising their awareness of monitoring their children’s mental well-being and engaging in effective communication and guidance.
