My decision to shift from the arts to law was driven by a deep commitment to fairness and justice, as well as an enduring passion for understanding the intricate workings of social norms. During my graduate studies at Soochow University, I systematically restructured my legal knowledge base and, through hands-on experiences such as moot court competitions and pro bono legal work, further honed my skills in legal drafting, case analysis, and dispute resolution. As I stepped out of Soochow University’s School of Law, I carried with me a confident mastery of statutory texts—only to receive a rude awakening during my very first week at a Nanjing law office. When my supervising attorney handed me the file of a lease‑contract dispute, dozens of pages of WeChat chat logs and audio recordings instantly revealed what it means to grapple with the “dust of legal facts.” It became clear that those forceful courtroom arguments were underpinned by countless late nights of painstaking effort. These small yet profoundly real everyday realities taught me that the “rights‑based analytical framework” I had studied on campus is but the skeleton of the legal profession; it is the meticulous details of practice that breathe life into its flesh and spirit.
As an intern lawyer at JC Master Law Office, I am actively engaged in case discussions, legal research, and the drafting of basic legal documents, striving to translate theoretical knowledge into practical skills. At a certain moment, I suddenly came to realize that the realization of justice requires not only legal reasoning but also the patience to “bend down and gather the fallen ears of grain.” When I see what I have written… Civil Complaint It was only when I accompanied my supervising attorney to court that I truly came to appreciate the significance of using the law to safeguard my clients’ legitimate rights. Looking ahead, I hope to both maintain the precision of legal documents and learn to communicate professional value in a more empathetic manner, leveraging my expertise and passion to create greater value for my team and my clients.

“The life of the law lies not merely in logic, but even more in experience.” The gap between theory and practice can only be bridged through the accumulation of time and the refinement that comes with it; only then do we come to realize that there may be no single, definitive “winning strategy.” In our work, the level of rigor required far exceeds what one might imagine. As the saying goes, “details determine success or failure”—even a misplaced page number on an exhibit or an error in calculating the statute of limitations can leave an entire case at a disadvantage. At the same time, I am continually seeking more efficient ways to work; cultivating emotional resilience and managing expectations are skills that often prove even harder to master than technical expertise.

In non-litigation practice, while the adversarial clash of the courtroom is absent, there is instead a measured composure born of behind-the-scenes strategic planning. From contract review to due diligence, from structuring to compliance advisory, each task demands thorough research and meticulous analysis. These responsibilities have taught me that law is not merely an art of advocacy; it is also a discipline that calls for painstaking attention to detail and rigorous, evidence‑based rigor. Every instance in which I successfully help clients mitigate risks and secure collaborative agreements fills me with a profound sense of accomplishment.
In my practice of non-litigation work, I have come to appreciate both the depth and breadth of legal services. Each project is like a complex puzzle, requiring me to fill in the gaps with my legal expertise and connect the pieces through logical reasoning. This kind of challenge has driven my continuous growth and strengthened my resolve to pursue a career in law.
