On July 28, the 23rd session of the “Ideal·Monthly Forum”—titled “Judicial Balancing in Non-Compete Restrictions: Employees’ Right to Choose Employment and Enterprises’ Protection of Trade Secrets”—was successfully held. The event was guided by the Suzhou Industrial Park Lawyers Association and its Labor and Social Security Specialized Committee, and co-hosted by Beijing Weiheng (Suzhou) Law Office and JC Master (Suzhou) Law Office.

Xu Lihong, Vice President of the Suzhou Industrial Park Lawyers Association, fully endorsed the practical significance of this theme and underscored the importance of fostering harmonious labor relations within the framework of the rule of law, thereby setting a professional tone for the entire event.

Attorney Ju Yijing of JC Master (Suzhou) Law Office, as the first guest speaker, leveraged her profound professional expertise to systematically outline the fundamental legal framework of the non‑compete regime. She elucidated the core legal principles governing non‑compete agreements in a clear and accessible manner, laying a solid theoretical foundation for the ensuing discussion. Her lucid and thorough presentation earned high praise from the attendees.

Drawing on her extensive experience in corporate human resources management, Ms. Jiang Jinhua, a senior HR professional from Condrain, analyzed the pain points, challenges, and risks associated with the non‑compete clause in real‑world business applications, offering valuable insights for the attending corporate representatives.

Attorney He Jun of Beijing Weiheng (Suzhou) Law Office focuses on the core judicial challenge in non‑compete disputes: the determination of a competitive relationship. Drawing on landmark cases, Attorney He underscores the importance of conducting a precise assessment across multiple dimensions, including the scope of business operations, actual business activities, market territories, and customer segments.

A roundtable discussion and interactive Q&A session followed. Attorney Ju Yijing, Ms. Jiang Jinhua, Attorney He Jun, and特邀 judge Shao Tingting took to the stage to engage in a spirited exchange. Drawing on their respective perspectives, the four guests engaged in an in-depth dialogue with the audience, fostering a lively and dynamic interaction that was met with sustained applause. The roundtable fully embodied the mission of “Ideal·Monthly Talks” — to focus on practical issues and spark the collision of ideas.

The successful organization of this event will provide valuable guidance for corporate compliance management, legal practice, and the effective resolution of labor disputes. Moving forward, JC Master Law Office will continue to collaborate with industry peers, focus on pressing legal issues, establish platforms for professional exchange, and jointly advance the development of rule-of-law practices.
