Speech by Director Ma

Distinguished friends and relatives, honored guests, good afternoon. On behalf of Taihe Law Firm, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for attending the opening ceremony of Mou Keming’s “Harmony Between Heaven and Earth” art exhibition.

Today’s opening of the art exhibition is the most grand occasion in nearly six years since Taihe Gallery first opened—not only because Mr. Mou is a dear friend of mine, but more importantly because he is a highly respected artist, a master of Chinese painting with profound artistic accomplishments, and also a dedicated social activist committed to fostering cultural exchange and development between China and the rest of the world.

Art is the harmony between nature and humanity; painting is the most eloquent form of expression; to paint, one must cultivate a tranquil mind, a serene spirit, and a calm breath.

From Mr. Mou’s works, we can sense the state of his mind, spirit, and energy—calm yet brimming with vitality, freehand yet profoundly substantial—a quality that is truly rare and precious.

I am no artist, and I may well be venturing into territory better left to the experts—so I will yield the floor to you, esteemed scholars and specialists. Once again, thank you all for being here. May art serve as the bond that brings us together, and may the law support the success of your endeavors. Thank you!

At the event, Mr. Li Kun and Mr. Wang Ningsheng, first‑level inspectors of the Jiangsu Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, offered commentary and remarks on Mr. Mou Kemin’s landscape paintings, highlighting the humanistic spirit and artistic philosophy they embody. Mr. Mou’s landscapes use brush and ink to express his emotions, seeking a dialogue with his true self. His works reflect a profound humanistic ethos and the philosophical principle of the unity of heaven and humanity, seamlessly integrating the natural splendors of both northern and southern landscapes through masterful handling of brush and ink. With a distinct contemporary sensibility and unmistakable artistic character, they articulate the spiritual essence of nature itself.

Mr. Yin Shi, former vice chairman and secretary-general of the Jiangsu Provincial Artists Association, along with other distinguished guests, also offered high praise for Mr. Mou Kemin and his work. Mr. Mou is a painter of genuine sincerity and unwavering dedication, known for his diligence and love of learning. His paintings seamlessly blend northern and southern stylistic traditions, employing a rich array of artistic techniques and developing a distinctive style that is both fresh and elegant, yet profound and grand.

Mr. Mou Kemin delivered a thank-you address, expressing his gratitude to the organizers and hosts for their dedicated support of this art exhibition. He noted that the exhibition has fostered greater understanding among like-minded colleagues in the art and cultural communities, while also achieving a seamless integration of law and art. Mr. Mou then presented a painting of his own to Taihe Law Firm.

Also in attendance at the opening of this art exhibition were artists and leaders from the Jiangsu Provincial Artists Association, the Jiangsu Provincial Association for Sino‑Foreign Cultural and Social Exchanges, the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Culture and Arts, the Eastern Theater Command, and other organizations.

Following a grand and well-organized opening ceremony, the 2021 “Harmony Between Heaven and Earth” art exhibition by Mr. Mou Keming officially commenced! Next, we’ll share some delightful behind-the-scenes moments from the event!

Taihe has seamlessly integrated law and the arts, and in the future will continue to host a diverse array of cultural exchange initiatives that are both rich in form and substance.
