Before becoming a lawyer, I viewed the law merely as a set of abstract social norms written on paper. Only after taking up the profession did I come to see that law is, in concrete terms, about rights and obligations—ranging from the most mundane, like a meal or a day’s sustenance, to matters of life and health. Legal issues are specific, practical, and often even trivial—far removed from the lofty image that the public, including my former self, tends to associate with the legal profession. It was only when I became a lawyer that the law truly came alive in my mind.

Changes that bring pain can lead to a profound transformation. Only by breaking free from the tightly woven cocoon it has spun around itself can the silkworm become a dazzling butterfly; otherwise, it will spend its entire life as nothing more than a silkworm. And just like that silkworm, I too wrapped myself in layer upon layer of heavy cocoons at an early age: a soft, yielding temperament that lacks confidence and poise; a mindset fixated on tasks themselves, rather than using them as means to ultimately achieve academic growth... To become a competent legal professional, I must shed these layers of constraint, endure the accompanying pain, and embrace change.
