Every time you press the shutter or sift through your photos, you’re making a choice—each one. A seemingly small decision can shape the course of your life, just as the master photographer Henri Cartier‑Bresson once said: “In photography, the smallest things can become the greatest subjects.”
This is the most celebrated “decisive moment” theory in the history of photography. He argued that every aspect of life has its own decisive moment—capturing fleeting instants from ordinary lives, seizing both the surface and the essence of things in an instant, and rendering them timeless.
And as a lawyer, throughout your professional development, there are numerous “defining moments” that can shape your entire career.

For me, studying law as a student and applying it as a lawyer have had vastly different impacts—far more profound in the latter case. Before becoming a lawyer, I viewed law merely as abstract social norms written on paper; only after taking up the profession did I come to see it as a concrete framework of rights and obligations, ranging from the most mundane—such as a meal or a day’s sustenance—to the most fundamental—like life and health. Legal issues are specific, practical, and often even trivial; this stands in stark contrast to the lofty image that many people—including my former self—tend to associate with the legal profession. It was only when I became a lawyer that law truly came alive in my mind.

After joining the law office, I found myself surrounded by highly accomplished lawyers, which afforded me ample opportunities to learn legal expertise from seasoned professionals. I was able to handle a wider variety of cases and engage with diverse clients. In particular, as I began assisting on several bankruptcy matters, I frequently encountered complex and challenging issues and interacted with creditors, further enriching my practical experience. This has reinforced my understanding of the critical importance of continuous learning and experience‑building.
I am deeply grateful for the warm welcome from the JC Master family and for the wonderful people I’ve met here, who have made me, a newcomer from afar, feel the genuine warmth of JC Master. I will continue to deepen my professional expertise, striving to become a capable, outstanding, and compassionate member of the JC Master community. Though the road may be long, every journey begins with a single step—may we all keep moving forward.

Changes that bring pain can lead to a profound transformation. Only by breaking free from the tightly woven cocoon it has spun around itself can the silkworm become a dazzling butterfly; otherwise, it will spend its entire life as nothing more than a silkworm. And just like that silkworm, I too wrapped myself in layer upon layer of heavy cocoons at an early age: a soft, yielding temperament that lacks confidence and poise; a mindset fixated on tasks themselves, rather than using those tasks as means to ultimately achieve academic growth... To become a competent legal professional, I must shed these layers of constraint, endure the accompanying pain, and embrace change.
Start by making small changes to your attire to uplift your spirit, engage in regular reading to enrich your mind, and periodically review completed tasks to close the loop on your work. By overcoming inertia, daring to take action, and staying true to your original intentions, you will one day be able to embody the ideal of a gentleman—reserved yet resolute, unafraid to speak up when faced with injustice—and confidently voice your professional opinions, becoming a legal professional who fills you with pride and satisfaction.
