On the afternoon of June 20, the “Su Xin Lecture Series” thematic sharing session titled “Managing and Reconfiguring Intimate Relationships in the Post‑Civil Code Era” was successfully held at Gulou Innovation Plaza. 。 This event was hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of New Social Strata, co-organized by the Management Committee of the Nanjing Gulou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and undertaken by the Branch for Professionals in Intermediary Organizations of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of New Social Strata. More than 50 participants—representing the province’s new social strata, members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, family‑law attorneys, psychological counselors, social workers, and professionals from the finance and insurance sectors—attended. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the event concluded successfully.
Li Yuanyang, Director of the JC Master Management Committee and a member of the Second Council of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of New Social Strata, as well as President of the Branch for Professionals in Intermediary Organizations, presided over the event. President Li emphasized that the promulgation of the Civil Code has far-reaching implications for the management and restructuring of intimate relationships. He expressed his hope that this sharing session would help participants gain a deeper understanding of the relevant provisions of the Civil Code, enhance their legal awareness, safeguard their personal rights and interests, and contribute to the building of a harmonious society.
Immediately afterward, the Director of the JC Master Committee on Marriage, Family Matters, and Wealth Succession Attorney Li Xiuhua delivered a keynote address, systematically examining intimate relationships in the post‑Civil Code era. She analyzed the current state of such relationships, identified existing problems and challenges, and proposed a multidimensional approach to their management and reconstruction. Her presentation offered a new legal framework for rethinking intimate relationships from the perspective of the Civil Code, clarifying the applicable legal rules governing both personal and property aspects. She further advocated for a multidimensional, dynamic lens to redefine and reassess intimate relationships, emphasizing that, with the Civil Code at its core, a comprehensive review of the obligations arising from these relationships is essential—highlighting their significant value for social cohesion and national stability.
Attorney Li Drawing on profound legislative insights and a wealth of practical cases, the work offers an in-depth analysis of key legal developments and their societal implications over the past four years under the Marriage and Family section of the Civil Code, as well as the challenges and responses associated with the implementation of such topical provisions as the divorce cooling-off period, the determination of joint debts, and compensation for domestic labor. It also examines best practices in optimizing child custody determinations and in coordinating multi‑agency safeguards against domestic violence. By scrutinizing pressing social issues, landmark cases, and statutory provisions, the book strengthens the sense of responsibility embedded in intimate relationships.
In the post‑Civil Code era, the reconfiguration of intimate relationships is no longer a matter confined to the private sphere; it has become a critical public issue that bears on individual well-being, family stability, and social harmony. Participants engaged in lively discussions on specific challenges facing intimate relationships in this new context, explored ways to help friends navigating marital and romantic partnerships overcome legal difficulties, and examined strategies for establishing effective communication channels and fostering healthier, more fulfilling intimate bonds, thereby offering valuable learning opportunities.
This event was highly praised by all attendees, who unanimously agreed that the presentations were extremely practical, providing a platform for in-depth learning and meaningful dialogue on building healthy, intimate relationships, and offering constructive recommendations to better safeguard citizens’ legitimate rights and interests within marriage and family. JC Master Law Office feels deeply honored to have participated, and going forward, we will remain committed to fostering social harmony and family well-being, working hand in hand with all sectors of society to build a brighter future together.
