“Achieving both fame and a successful career” is the expectation Director Ma Qun has for us. Professionalization is the inevitable path for lawyers in the future. Personally, I am still building up my expertise and cannot yet offer concrete advice. My approach is to make professional choices that align with my own circumstances—considering my area of specialization, family networks, personal interests, financial situation, and more—and to develop a three- to five-year plan that encompasses acquiring industry knowledge, gaining hands-on experience through cases (or projects), and cultivating relevant professional connections.

In my view, the most fundamental quality of an outstanding litigator is being guided by sound values and high moral principles—upholding the legitimate rights and interests of clients, ensuring the proper application of the law, and safeguarding social fairness and justice. Such a lawyer makes the law his or her profession, regards the legal system as his or her mentor, and remains honest and trustworthy, consistent in word and deed—rather than measuring success solely by financial gain or fame. Moreover, lawyers should actively uphold the legal community and steadfastly respect the dignity of the law.

The challenging and adversarial nature of litigation keeps me passionately engaged in my work; each case teaches me something new. When my arguments in particularly contentious matters are accepted, I feel a profound sense of accomplishment, which motivates me to keep learning and honing my skills.
