Taihe Updates | Our firm has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Panama’s MGCMA Law Firm.

On July 30, Mr. Chen Tong, a partner at Panama’s MGCMA Law Firm, paid a special visit to Taihe Law Firm. The two sides held a symposium and formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The agreement outlines the scope of collaborative matters, office support, and day-to-day cooperation mechanisms, marking an important step in Taihe’s international expansion into Latin America.

MGCMA Law Firm is a well‑known, full‑service law firm in Panama, with extensive experience in corporate law, cross‑border investment, international trade, and dispute resolution. As a global hub for shipping and finance, Panama—leveraging its canal infrastructure and open‑policy framework—has become a key gateway for Chinese enterprises seeking to enter Latin America. In recent years, China–Panama economic and trade ties have continued to strengthen, with China now Panama’s second‑largest trading partner, and ample room for cooperation between the two countries in areas such as infrastructure, the digital economy, and new energy.

During the symposium, Li Yuanyang, Director of the Taihe Management Committee; Xu Guojin, Director of the law firm; and Zhu Li, Chair of the Executive Committee, provided a comprehensive overview of Taihe’s more than four-decade journey and its strategic roadmap. Since its establishment in 1985, Taihe has consistently maintained a strong competitive edge in areas such as international legal services and capital markets. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including opportunities in the Latin American market, cross-border investment compliance, mining and energy resource development, overseas intellectual property protection, and the safeguarding of the rights and interests of Chinese nationals and overseas Chinese. They also reached preliminary consensus on specific cooperation initiatives, such as the publication of country‑specific investment reports, the organization of entrepreneur study tours, and reciprocal personnel exchanges.

The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement marks an important step for Taihe in deepening its international footprint and expanding into the Latin American legal services market. Both parties will leverage their respective strengths to engage in in-depth collaboration across areas such as cross-border investment compliance and international trade dispute resolution, jointly providing more precise and efficient legal support for Chinese enterprises seeking to invest and do business in Panama and other Central American markets. Taihe will continue to broaden its global network, upholding the principle of “putting clients’ interests first and prioritizing professional service,” to ensure that Chinese companies can confidently and steadily expand overseas.
