Taihe Updates | Attorney Shi Qiao was invited to deliver a specialized lecture at Shanghai Pudong Development Bank titled “Anticipating Accounts Receivable Risks Through Counterparty Indicators.”

On September 18, Attorney Shi Qiao, a partner at Taihe Law Firm and an adjunct professor at the School of Law of Nanjing Normal University, was invited to Shanghai Pudong Development Bank to deliver a specialized legal‑practice presentation titled “Anticipating Accounts‑Receivable Risks Through Counterparty Indicators” to the bank’s business team.

In this presentation, Attorney Shi Qiao used several high‑profile cases involving the recovery of non‑performing loans and large‑scale trade disputes as a starting point. From the perspective of the creditor‑recovery entity, he systematically outlined a comprehensive approach to proactively identifying receivables‑related risks: using real‑world cases to illustrate key points, breaking down each stage, and meticulously analyzing the risk signals that counterparties may emit at different phases of the transaction. Drawing on his own experience, he reconstructed the evolution of receivables risks—from their initial emergence, through gradual escalation, to eventual default. In addition, he provided an in-depth analysis of the logic behind selecting contracting parties within multi‑tiered corporate group structures, working backward to identify the critical red flags banks should monitor at each stage—pre‑loan due diligence, contract execution, and post‑loan management—and how to strategically prepare evidence and implement risk‑control measures. By translating complex legal risk dynamics into actionable risk‑management guidelines, he helped banks accurately assess counterparty credit risk at the front end of their operations, thereby reducing losses from non‑performing receivables. The presentation was thorough and highly practical, with lively interaction and a spirited discussion throughout.

Decoding risk logic and clarifying the boundaries of risk control. This session was both professional and pragmatic, offering profound theoretical insights while providing practical guidance. It furnished participating bank teams with clear operational guidelines for optimizing transaction due diligence processes, strengthening accounts‑receivable risk‑management frameworks, and enhancing their capabilities in debt‑collection practices, earning unanimous praise from all attendees.

For overdue receivables held by banks and financial institutions engaged in leasing and factoring, the Taihe Legal Services team has leveraged its years of experience serving dozens of institutions in the field of non‑performing asset recovery to develop a comprehensive, standardized suite of legal services for the collection and commercial disposal of such claims. The team has established standardized litigation and enforcement procedures, employed diverse litigation strategies to uncover latent opportunities for recovering debts from dormant or debt‑evading entities, and provided targeted guidance on pre‑loan due diligence and information gathering—thereby opening up new avenues and opportunities for banks to recover their non‑performing assets.
