To help enterprises expand overseas in a prudent manner and effectively mitigate legal risks associated with international operations, the “Rule of Law for Enterprises Going Global” initiative—jointly launched by the Rudong County Justice Bureau, the Rudong County Lawyers Association, and the town‑level public legal service platform—visited Xindian Town on the afternoon of July 23, conducting an on‑site visit to Jiangsu Meixin Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. Attorney Ge Rongrong of Taihe (Nantong) Law Firm was invited to attend the event, which was also attended by Director Chen Ying of the Rudong County Justice Bureau, Section Chief Wang Dongmei of the Lawyers Management Section along with heads of relevant departments, the leading official in charge from Xindian Town, staff members of the local judicial office, representatives of the Rudong County Lawyers Association’s “Rule of Law for Enterprises Going Global” legal team, as well as management and employee representatives from Jiangsu Meixin Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd.
In the first phase of the initiative, the working group conducted an on-site visit to Jiangsu Meixin Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. to gain a firsthand understanding of the company’s production and operational activities. The company’s management provided a detailed overview of its current foreign trade and outbound investment operations, identified disputes and challenges encountered in its business activities, and articulated its needs for legal services related to international affairs.
Subsequently, the event moved to the Xindian Town Comprehensive Governance Center for a symposium. At the venue, legal service offerings were presented, and Attorney Ge Rongrong of Taihe (Nantong) Law Firm delivered a specialized legal lecture titled “A Guide to Legal Risk Prevention for Foreign‑Related Enterprises.” The lecture addressed key topics such as foreign trade compliance, risks in international trade contracts, cross‑border intellectual property protection, risk management for outbound investments, investment access and national security reviews, as well as labor‑employment and tax compliance. Drawing on real‑world case studies, it analyzed common legal pitfalls faced by companies expanding overseas and offered practical, actionable strategies for mitigation.
At the meeting, relevant government departments outlined their roles and responsibilities in law enforcement oversight and solicited feedback and suggestions from businesses. During the interactive Q&A session, corporate representatives raised legal concerns based on their overseas operations, and a team of lawyers provided on-the-spot answers and guidance, offering one‑on‑one legal counseling.
This event has further streamlined channels for connecting lawyers with businesses, establishing a regular platform for communication between government agencies and enterprises, as well as between the legal profession and businesses. Moving forward, the Rudong County Justice Bureau and the County Lawyers Association will continue to leverage public legal service platforms in all towns and districts, focus on the rule-of-law needs of enterprises expanding overseas, and consistently provide specialized foreign-related legal services, thereby building a robust legal safeguard to support local companies in opening up international markets.
